Both Feet In

by Nicole Trilivas

“I’ve always had one foot in and one foot out of everything I’ve done. Writing is the only thing I’ve committed to with both feet in the water, for better or for worse.”

Both feet. In deep.

Both feet. In deep.

As someone whose own feet have been firmly placed in the water of writing for the past few years, I relate to this. I have never wanted anything more than this. This being to write, which is shorthand for living the life I want. Even as I sit here in a coffeehouse in Russian Hill, San Francisco, typing these very words, I can’t help but to feel grateful to get to live this way: Both feet in and in deep.

PS. if you like Chloe Caldwell’s essay, she’s got a whole book of them to check out.
