Happy 2014!

by Nicole Trilivas

Wowza, where does the time go?! First off, happy New Year! I have some new ideas for my blog in 2014. I basically plan to make it more blog-y by focusing on a few key subjects that are ruling my world at the moment:

I spent last year writing a New Adult novel. Except I didn’t know it was a New Adult novel. Once I figured out that New Adult meant 18-25 protagonist dealing with issues like leaving home, emerging sexuality, and figuring out career directions, I was like, ah, okay, that’s GIRLS WHO TRAVEL! After re-branding my manuscript query letter from chick lit/contemporary woman’s fiction to New Adult, I got loads more interest from literary agents. By the end of 2013 I was signed by Carrie Pestritto of the Prospect Agency, which is super exciting. She seems like a great champion for GIRLS WHO TRAVEL. I really want to share my story of the whole nail-biting editorial/publishing process as it unfolds (please keep your fingers crossed for me!!!), as well as blog about New Adult in general since it’s a relatively new (and oh so hot and sexy) genre. Ooh la la!

I also plan to blog more about the writing process in general. I still have trouble calling myself “a writer” (as opposed to “a writer <insert silly giggles here>”), but I plan on changing that in 2014. I am a writer, damn it! But I still have lots to learn. (I also vow to start spelling the word “weird” correctly.)

As a lifelong traveler, I want to continue to use this blog as a place to enjoy guilt-free travel porn. And all the people rejoice!

Thanks for stopping by. Let’s make this year wildly wonderful, mmkay?
